In the years leading up to the murders, he had been arrested several times but never convicted.

The Prosecution’s Case

In July of 2001, Darrell Brooks brutally raped and murdered an elderly woman in her own home. He then set her house on fire in an attempt to cover up his crime. For his heinous act, Darrell Brooks was sentenced to death.

The prosecution’s case against Darrell was strong. They had DNA evidence linking him to the crime, as well as eyewitness testimony placing him at the scene of the crime. Additionally, Brooks had a history of violence against women, which made him a prime suspect in this case.

Despite the strength of the prosecution’s case, some people still believe that Darrell Brooks is innocent. They point to the fact that he was not identified by any of the witnesses until after he was arrested, and argue that the DNA evidence could have been contaminated. However, the overwhelming evidence against Darrell Brooks makes it clear that he is guilty of this brutal murder.
